Orašac is located on the shore of the Koločep Channel. Below the village, there is a pebble beach with a small boat landing on the channel shore. Those considering Orašac as a holiday destination may want to rent a holiday apartment.
Culture
The parish church of the Visitation of Mary in Orašac was built in 1529. Inside are paintings of Our Lady of Sorrows and John the Baptist, which are listed as protected cultural assets of Croatia. On 2 July, Orašac celebrates the Feast of Our Lady of Orašac.
Orašac is home to a former Dominican monastery dating from the late 17th century. The former Dominican monastery contains the Rozalija Chapel, dating from 1690. The village also has a tower belonging to a summer residence associated with an Austrian resident of Dubrovnik and dating from the 17th to 18th century. The Soderini summer residence in Orašac is protected. Above the coast of Orašac is the Arapavo-Soderini summer residence; it is designated as a protected cultural asset and has a tourism and gastronomy use.
Coast and Activities
Access to NUKU Beach is open to all visitors. Sun loungers and parasols are reserved for resort guests or can be rented. During the summer, guests can take jet-ski and jet-ski safari trips from the resort pier towards Koločep and the Adriatic coast. The Sun Gardens Dubrovnik Sports Centre in Orašac has three sand tennis courts.
A village walk through Orašac leads through Mediterranean gardens, past dry-stone walls and traditional houses, to the 255-metre-high Saint Nicholas viewpoint. From there, the view extends to the Elaphiti Islands and, in clear weather, as far as Mljet. The route continues to the Church of Our Lady of Orašac, built in 1529, and the nearby Brana Lake.
Landscape
In the Orašac-Vrtovi sunca tourist area, the undeveloped western part of the planning area is considered valuable in landscape terms. This area includes the streambed of the Kočišta torrent and its associated vegetation. The cultivated landscape in the Orašac-Vrtovi sunca area also includes vineyards, citrus trees and olive trees.
The Panorama Ride cycling tour follows the route Resort–Orašac–Ljubač–Gromača–Kliševo–Resort and starts at the Sun Gardens Dubrovnik Sports Centre. It takes cyclists above the resort to Orašac and then through olive groves, green valleys and agricultural areas.
Orientation
From Dubrovnik, the journey to Sun Gardens Dubrovnik in Orašac takes approximately 20 minutes by car or taxi and approximately 30 minutes by public transport; the duration depends on traffic.
