Mokosica: Apartments and Holiday Homes

The Lazarević–Gučetić summer residence in Mokošica is the largest and most representative surviving complex of 16th-century rural architecture in Rijeka Dubrovačka. At the same time, it is considered one of the most outstanding achievements of rural Renaissance architecture and has a Gothic rear façade.
The Lazarević–Gučetić summer residence has been roofless and in ruins since 1948, but it retains the original layout of its residential building, service wing, and garden areas. Mokošica is home to five summer residences associated with the Bunić, Ranjina, and Zuzorić families. The Gučetić-Đurđević summer residence is regarded as the most important of these summer residences; in 1814, the last council of the Ragusan nobility was held there.
The name Mokošica derives from Mokoš, the Slavic goddess of fertility and protector of women.

Culture and Everyday Life
The Ogranak Mokošica public library branch opened in 2009 and was the first cultural institution in this part of the city. It includes a children's corner, a reading room, three computers with internet access, and a reference collection.
The Tezoro school cooperative in Mokošica is open to people interested in cooperation. It covers olive growing, traditional dishes, and medicinal plants.
Landscape
Part of the Tamarić area in Mokošica lies within the significant landscape of Rijeka Dubrovačka. It extends from the source to the mouth in a 300-metre-wide belt on both sides of the riverbanks.
The part of Mokošica covered by the Tamarić Plan has relatively steep northern slopes and level terraces supported by dry-stone walls. The terraced terrain is considered a characteristic element of the Mediterranean cultural landscape.
By the Water
The public bathing areas along the Mokošica waterfront include Ispod bora and ex-Ambulanta.
Guided group and private kayaking tours are offered for exploring the coast, islands, caves, and beaches of Dubrovnik-Neretva County.
