The Zavičajna zbirka of the Pučko otvoreno učilište Vrbovec comprises an archaeological, ethnographic, cultural-historical and art-historical collection. Its holdings include more than 1,000 objects, fragments, archival materials and books; around 300 objects are on display. The collection can be visited daily by prior arrangement. Guided tours by experts are offered for groups of 10 to 30 people.

History
The Kula Zrinski can be visited. The Kula Petra Zrinskog is a protected cultural asset and a preserved remnant of the former castle of the Patačić family. After 1755, the Patačić family built a new masonry palace on the ruins of one wing of the old castle; the small Baroque Patačić Palace has survived to this day.
The De Piennes family mausoleum stands in the cemetery of Vrbovec and is a significant work of modern architecture by Hugo Ehrlich and Viktor Kovačić. The Church of St Vitus in Vrbovec was originally a Gothic building dating from the late 15th or early 16th century. Its present appearance was created through a Baroque restoration in the second half of the 18th century, as well as the addition of a side chapel and an entrance hall in the 19th century.
Cuisine
Vrbovečka pera is registered under the EU quality scheme as a Traditional Speciality Guaranteed (TSG). It is a round baked product made from yeast dough with a filling whose main ingredients are fresh cow's cheese, cream and eggs. The sweet version also contains one tablespoon of sugar.
The culinary traditional event “Kaj su jeli naši stari” has been held in Vrbovec every year since 1981 on the last weekend of August. Women's associations from Vrbovec and the surrounding municipalities of Preseke, Rakovec, Gradec, Dubrava and Farkaševac prepare traditional regional dishes as they learned to make them from their mothers and grandmothers.
Activities and Nature
At the Vrbovečka utrka held in 2026, the start was at Trg Petra Zrinskog in Vrbovec. The event included a 98 km Gran Fondo route and a 61 km Medio Fondo route.
In the vicinity of Vrbovec, the Vrbovec Forest Administration manages the Varoški lug special zoological reserve with the “Staza prijateljstva s prirodom” nature trail, as well as the Česma and Novakuša forest vegetation reserves.

Vrbovec has a bus station and a railway station. There is free parking in the town centre, although parking may be more difficult on Tuesdays because of market day.
