Velika Mlaka: Holiday Apartments and Houses
Velika Mlaka is home to a wooden Baroque chapel with documented traces dating back to 1642; the vestibule was added in 1912.
Culture
Around 150 painted surfaces have been preserved inside. These include depictions of saints and floral motifs, as well as a rare depiction of the Holy Sorrows. Next to the chapel are a carved wooden čardak, which is used as a parish house, and a small wooden grain-storage chamber that has survived from the former church estate.
The surrounding area of Velika Mlaka is home to the Museum of Contemporary Art and the Archaeological Museum. The Zagreb ZOO, Fontana kralja Tomislava, and the Botanic Garden are also located in the surrounding area. Medvedgrad and Sljeme are located in the wider regional surroundings of Velika Mlaka.
Cycling Route
A cycling tour in the Velika Gorica area includes an approximately 16-kilometre circular route that passes the Chapel of Saint Barbara in Velika Mlaka; the tour takes approximately three hours in total. The chapel can be visited by prior arrangement.
