The Museum of Međimurje Čakovec is housed in the palace in Čakovec’s Old Town. The museum comprises around 25,000 objects in 51 museum collections. The permanent exhibitions open to visitors include Zrinski and Čakovec’s Old Town, the Art Gallery and Riznica Međimurja.

Culture
The permanent exhibition “Zrinski and Čakovec’s Old Town” presents the history and heritage of the noble Zrinski family. It also interprets aristocratic everyday life in the areas of education, marriage, fashion, food and leisure.
Riznica Međimurja is located in the fortification of the Zrinski Old Town in Čakovec. The exhibition interprets Međimurje’s heritage through traditions, oral storytelling, knowledge and skills. It uses 3D mapping, holograms, multimedia presentations and 4D effects for this purpose. Riznica Međimurja also presents 13 protected intangible cultural assets, including two that are inscribed on the UNESCO Representative List.
The Church of St Nicholas in Čakovec has Baroque furnishings. Its stained-glass windows were created in 1962 by Ivo Dulčić and in 1989 by Branimir Dorotić.
The first regular tennis court in Čakovec was built in 1926 where the club courts of Teniski klub Franjo Punčec are located today. Some players from this club became national champions. Centar za kulturu Čakovec presents performances, concerts, events and film screenings. The pilgrimage “Porcijunkulovo – Čakovec” combines faith, tradition and festivities.
Nature
Perivoj Zrinskih is a protected monument of park architecture. The park contains more than 1,000 deciduous and coniferous trees as well as around 200 deciduous and evergreen shrubs. Paths through Perivoj Zrinskih lead past monuments, statues, busts and Zrinski Castle.
Regional Routes and Culinary Delights
The Ekomuzej Međimurje Visitor Center in Čakovec features a multimedia presentation that introduces visitors to attractions from fourteen original settlements. The Čakovec Gastro route presents dishes from Međimurje, including the four dishes “pretepena soup”, “meat z tiblice”, “turoš cheese” and “međimurska gibanica”.
Regional cycling routes connect Čakovec via the Međimurje Wine Road with Terme Sveti Martin and Štrigova. The wider cycling network in Međimurje includes family-friendly lowland routes along the Mura and Drava as well as the Cyclist Welcome network.
