Stolac: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Stolac is located in the mountainous areas of Velebit and Kapela in the Senj region. The protected natural heritage of the Senj area includes Velebit Nature Park and Northern Velebit National Park. The paved road to Žukalj and Stolac branches off the Senj–Vratnik road below Majorija.

Cycling

The Vratnik–Oltari cycle route runs from Vratnik to Oltari over 14.8 km. On this route, Stolac is a waypoint at an elevation of 867 m between Vratnik and Oltari. The route is considered moderately difficult and has an elevation gain of 256 m; 57% runs over macadam and 43% over asphalt.

The Bater–Krasno Polje stage of EuroVelo 8 records a limited range of private accommodation near Stolac.

Landscape and Nature

Jadićeva plan is a 1,416 m-high hill on Senjsko bilo. Its upper section is wooded, while the summit is rocky; there is no summit view. Jadićeva plan is also a checkpoint on the Senjska obilaznica.

The Liskovac viewpoint is connected to hiking and cycling trails and lies at approximately 850 m above sea level.

At Liskovac there are benches, tables, bicycle racks, an information board, a telescope and an access path.

From the Liskovac viewpoint, views extend towards Kvarner, the islands and eastern Istria.

Velebit is considered biologically and geologically diverse and is home to numerous strictly protected plant and animal species.

Hiking

Part of the Via Dinarica HR-W-09 Senjsko bilo follows the Senj Hiking Tour, which is maintained by mountaineers from Senj.

After approximately one kilometre, the Via Dinarica hiking route reaches the road towards Stolac and Žukalj.

Culture

Petrove was celebrated in Stolac in June 2015. Local residents, people born in Stolac who had moved away, and pilgrims gathered for the occasion.

The 2015 celebration included a mass in the Chapel of St Peter and Paul as well as public festivities in the adjacent meadow.
