Culture and History
Oroslavje Donje Castle was built at the end of the 18th century by Sigismund Vojković/Vojkffy in a late Baroque U-shape. The Parish Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary was probably built in 1652 or 1653, first mentioned in 1669, and has been the parish church since 1941. The vaults of Oroslavje Donje Castle preserve rare late Baroque paintings from the late 18th century depicting motifs from Greek and Roman mythology. Croatia's only late Baroque–Neoclassical stove is located in the castle's main hall.
The parish church also has an early 18th-century altar with a tabernacle and a painting of the Virgin Mary with a silver crown.
Parks and Surroundings
The garden of Vranyczany Park was designed on the model of Versailles and included a lake and an island. Franz Liszt stayed twice at the Vranyczany estate in 1846 and gave a concert for local nobles. Baroque statues of Flora and the Satyr, depicting mythological beings, have been preserved in Vranyczany Park.
The park around Oroslavje Donje Castle is considered to be characterized by Baroque-Neoclassical garden elements and landscape-romantic garden architecture; this design is dated to the redevelopment of 1885. In the nearby surroundings of Oroslavje, in Krušljevo Selo, the Chapel of Saint Peter was built in 1808; it is designated there as an important cultural monument.
