Tounj is shaped by the Tounjčica River: the river rises from a large cave below the karst hill of Krpela. Its source and the cave landscape form a defining natural feature of the town.
Culture
The Church of Saint John the Baptist is also part of Tounj’s heritage. It was built in 1897 based on a design attributed to the architect Hermann Bollé.
Nature
A municipal project for an educational trail along the Tounjčica is planned in several phases: from the Tounj Bridge to the river’s source and from there downstream to a mill. A rest area at the bridge has been built. The educational trail is intended for informative walks focusing on the local nature and heritage.
