Smolyan: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Hiking and Cycling
The signposted and certified Nevyastata Eco Trail begins at St. Panteleimon Chapel and is 750 metres long. The municipality of Obshtina Smolyan offers more than 20 signposted hiking eco-routes and trails. Smilyan is the starting point for more than 12 signposted mountain hiking trails with rest areas. The municipality also includes sections of the Iron Curtain Route, the Trans-Rhodope Cycling Route and the Sultan's Trail, as well as signposted local cycling paths and forest roads.
Nature
The Canyon of Waterfalls comprises 46 waterfalls, the largest of which has a drop of almost 70 metres. The Canyon of Waterfalls Eco Trail is located in the area of the Soskovcheto Reserve and its buffer zone. Soskovcheto is associated with wild goats and brown bears. The Soskovcheto and Amzovo reserves are about fifteen minutes from Smolyan. The fir clubmoss is a protected species in Amzovo.
Culture
Turluka was a Thracian sanctuary that was used for more than a millennium. The foundations of a monastery complex and a three-aisled Christian basilica were found there. Smolyan Planetarium offers star-hall events for children, as well as educational, popular and thematic programmes. Foreign-language programmes are offered in Russian, French, German, English, Greek and Turkish.
Local Specialities
Smilyan is associated with special yellow cheeses and traditional dairy products, including Miahovo cheese, milk pie and full-fat curd cheese.
