Chala lies at an altitude of approximately 1,428 meters above sea level, between pine forests and open meadows. Culture and Cuisine

Chala has a traditional annual festival held on the last Saturday in August. Archaeological excavations at Videnitsa are described as the basis for assuming the existence of an ancient sanctuary of Dionysus. A single Thracian mound on the southeastern edge of Chala is designated as a cultural asset of national importance.
