Boykovo: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

Boykovo combines history, religious traditions, and nature. The Church of Saint Athanasius was built between 1835 and 1838 and is described as one of the earliest churches in the Tamrash nahiya. It stands at one of Boykovo’s highest points.

Culture and history

There are 13 chapels at older holy sites in the area of Boykovo. They include chapels dedicated to Saint Elijah, Saint Nicholas, Saint George, Saint Peter, Saint Michael, and the Virgin Mary.

The Zdravets community center on Boykovo’s central square houses a museum about the history of the settlement, its traditional everyday life, and its culture. Linăt is described as a significant archaeological monument and interpreted as a sacrificial sanctuary; it is located at approximately 1,350 meters above sea level.

A village gathering with live music is regularly held in Boykovo on August 15, together with the religious celebration in honor of Saint Mary. A Kukeri gathering is also held during Mesni Zagovezni.

Landscape

Mărtvite Skali is a rocky viewpoint approximately 200 to 300 meters from the summit of Kriv Kamak and offers a panorama of Boykovo.

The pine forest that forms Zdrave Park covers 60 decares and was planted in Boykovo’s territory. The site is described as unfenced; its use is not obstructed.

Ushite is located near Boykovo. Bex Tepe, Sredni Livadi, and Vahtse are located in the surrounding area of Boykovo.

Getting there

Boykovo is located 5–6 km from the paved, two-lane third-class road from Plovdiv to Lilkovo. Bus connections operate from the Rodopi bus station in Plovdiv. A stop is also listed in Boykovo’s villa zone, located approximately 3 km from the settlement.
