Ustina is associated with the ancient Thracian settlement of Besapara. Archaeological remains and finds associated with the area include large columns, tombs, building remains, coins, and vessels. Some objects are kept in the Archaeological Museum in Plovdiv.

In the wider region surrounding Ustina are Old Bridge, the Kurshunlu Mosque, the Shahbedinova Imaret dzhamia, and Batkunski Monastir.

Nature

From the area around St George Chapel and Mount Kulata, visitors can see the Thracian Plain to the north and the Vurhovrushki section of the Rhodope Mountains to the south. St George Chapel is described as being approximately 60 minutes from Ustina.

Mal Tepe, Vahtse, Ushite, and Elenski Vrah are located in the vicinity of Ustina.
