Yavrovo: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Yavrovo’s “Вдигане на куните”, also known as “Черковане”, attracts hundreds of people every year. During the ritual, icons are carried in a procession from the local church to the “Св. Никола” chapel.

Culture

The “Probuda–1923” chitalishte was built in 1923; it organizes creative gatherings, concerts, and celebrations that attract residents and visitors. Yavrovo preserves houses from the 19th century. Tsiporkova House is mentioned among Yavrovo’s houses designated as cultural monuments. Yavrovo is also described as the home village of Nikolay Haytov.

The annual village celebration on September 8 includes a market, live music, dancing, a liturgy, and a charity auction. The proceeds from the auction are used to restore the church.

Religious Life

The Church of the Holy Mother of God in Yavrovo is described as being 160 years old. Its foundations revealed an underground chapel, also referred to as a catacomb; it contains an icon from 1735 and a stone slab from 1818. There is a well along the church fence.
