Hisarya: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Those wishing to rent a holiday apartment in Hisarya can then continue searching for accommodation. The Hisarya Archaeological Reserve preserves a Roman defensive wall from the late 3rd century, the southern gate of Diocletianopolis, Roman thermal baths in Momina Salza Park, and a Roman amphitheatre with its arena preserved.

Thermal Area

Hisarya’s mineral waters range from 26 Â°C to 52 Â°C. Using this mineral water resource, the municipality has developed sanatoriums, SPA facilities, and centres for physiotherapy and rehabilitation.

Hisarya was officially admitted to the European Historic Thermal Towns Association (EHTTA). Participation is linked to the Roman cultural heritage, the historic thermal area, and the developed tourist infrastructure.

The Momina Banya mineral bath stands on the site of a large Roman public bath dating from the late 3rd or early 4th century and preserves an extensive Latin inscription in the brickwork. Momina Banya Park also has a mineral water drinking pavilion; the park can be visited free of charge.

Culture

The Hisarya Archaeological Museum presents the material and spiritual culture of the city and the surrounding area from the Neolithic to the Bulgarian National Revival. An ethnographic exhibition displays tools, local customs, and Kukeri masks and costumes, known locally as djumali.

Nature

The area around Hisarya and the nearby villages offers easy walks, bird and wildlife watching, observation of protected plant species, and trekking routes in Sredna Gora and the Balkan Mountains. Several hiking trails lead from Hisarya to the ridge of Sredna Gora or to the southern massifs.

A belt of mixed deciduous and coniferous forests around Hisarya provides numerous places to rest.

Trails

The Kliment Ohridski eco-trail is 1,000 metres long and begins at Kliment Ohridski School in the Verigovo district. It reaches St George’s Chapel and a Christian cross and has a shelter with tables and benches for resting and picnicking.

The Momina Banya eco-trail is 2,500 metres long, begins in the Momina Banya district, and leads towards Sredna Gora. The trail includes a fountain with seating and a lookout shelter with benches at the large Christian cross.

The Hisarya–Voden Kamak route is a 7-kilometre beginner cycling route on asphalt at elevations ranging from 360 to 450 metres and passes acacia and lime groves. The Hisarya–Fenera route is a 22-kilometre mountain route for experienced cyclists and is marked according to the standards of the Bulgarian Tourist Union.
