Culture and History

The Ustenskoye Hillfort is located 1.5 kilometres north of Vustsye near the Dnieper, in the Podgoritsa tract, formerly called Gorodets. The site covers an area of 50 × 40 metres and has a rampart approximately 4 metres high that curves towards the field.

The Ustenskoye Hillfort has yielded iron objects, including a stirrup, a sword pommel, an unidentified object and an iron ring found during an archaeological investigation in 2007. The pottery assemblage includes Iron Age and early medieval pottery.
