Urban history between the castle, town hall and city wall

Bruck Castle stands above the town. It is a castle built by the Counts of Gorizia and has stood there for more than 750 years. Bruck Castle is also a venue for exhibitions and concerts. Liebburg is another prominent site in Lienz's urban history. It was built by the Counts of Wolkenstein between 1605 and 1608 as a residential palace and has served as Lienz's town hall since 1988.

The parish church of St. Andrew also reaches far back into history: archaeological excavations show that a religious building already stood on its site in the 5th century. The Isel Tower is part of Lienz's partially preserved city wall. The medieval fortification at the Isel Tower dates from 1311 and goes back to an expansion of the town of Lienz. The Iseltrail connects Lienz with the glacier gate at the Umbalkees in Hohe Tauern National Park.
