Vent at the foot of Talleitspitze
Accommodation in Vent
Vent lies at the foot of Talleitspitze; 12 of Austria’s 20 highest mountains are located around the village. These figures give the landscape a tangible place in your travel plans: the high mountains are a defining feature for anyone considering Vent as a holiday destination. At the same time, the village offers more than mountain tours. A route to the Rofenhöfe, a suspension bridge in Rofen and the preserved guestbook offer different ways to explore the area. When looking for a holiday apartment, you can therefore first decide whether you would like to focus mainly on mountain scenery, a particular activity or culture as part of your plans.
Mountain scenery and the suspension bridge
The suspension bridge in Rofen is 46 metres long and crosses the 31-metre-deep Rofnerschlucht gorge. The measurements describe two sides of the same crossing: 46 metres refers to the bridge, and 31 metres to the depth of the gorge. This makes the landscape a tangible feature along the route. The suspension bridge is accessible at all times; as access conditions may change, check them before your visit.
The route to the Rofenhöfe
The route to the Rofenhöfe leads from Vent over the suspension bridge to the Rofenhöfe, and then back to Vent. The starting point, crossing, destination and return journey are all part of a named route; the bridge is not separate from the outing. In summer, you will often see Haflinger herds along the route, spending the summer on the alpine pastures there. The bridge and the herds are two different features of the same route: the bridge is part of the route, while seeing the herds is explicitly a summer activity.
Mountain tours, travel and culture
Guided tours to 3,000-metre peaks are also offered in Vent. This differs from the route to the Rofenhöfe: here, the focus is on a guided outing in a high-alpine setting, while the other option follows a specific route over the bridge to the Rofenhöfe. Check individual tours separately before making firm plans. To travel to the area, you can use Ötztal railway station as your starting point; from there, continue through the valley by public bus or local taxi. Check the current timetables for your travel date.
If you would like to explore a cultural topic alongside the landscape, visit the exhibition “Das Fremdenbuch von Vent” (The Vent Guestbook) in Vent’s new Widum. It offers insights into Vent’s preserved guestbook. Unlike the mountain scenery, bridge and guided tours, this exhibition focuses on a specific object. This makes it possible to get to know Vent not only through its landscape and activities, but also through a preserved historical record.
Choose the focus that suits your stay
The topics described can help you decide what kind of trip you are looking for. If you are mainly interested in mountain scenery, Vent’s location at the foot of Talleitspitze and the high mountains around the village offer a clear starting point. The route to the Rofenhöfe links the suspension bridge with a return to Vent, and the Haflinger herds add a seasonal touch in summer. Guided tours to 3,000-metre peaks offer a different focus; the guestbook complements the nature and activity themes with a cultural insight.
