Kaibing: Culture, Nature and Regional Experiences
Accommodation in Kaibing
Kaibing combines discoveries of local history and culture, paths through forest and river landscapes, and regional culinary experiences. Those who choose a holiday apartment or holiday home in Kaibing can organise their holiday in many different ways: with a cultural visit, a cycling tour, a walk or an excursion to Maria Fieberbründl.
Local History and Special Impressions
The “Walk-In Picture Book of the Feistritztal” in Kaibing uses a collection of local history exhibits to tell the story of Maria Fieberbründl. On display are holy cards and pilgrimage souvenirs. During guided tours, fully functioning gramophones and record players are also demonstrated. The visit therefore offers not only historical content, but also an unusual insight into earlier forms of listening and remembering.
Maria Fieberbründl is also an important religious point of reference for the region. The history of the site dates back to 1879, and the first Holy Mass was celebrated there in 1881. Maria Fieberbründl is visited by approximately 60,000 pilgrims per year. The event date is also of interest for personal travel planning: from 13 May to 13 October, Fatima celebrations take place on the 13th of every month. They begin with a candlelight procession and a Holy Mass at 7 p.m.
Forests, Water and Paths for Active Days
The Fieberbründl Circular Trail leads through an appealing forest landscape and provides a peaceful counterpoint to the cultural impressions. At the pilgrimage church of Maria Fieberbründl, after a few minutes on foot through the forest, you reach the brine graduation facility. There, salt water drips over blackthorn branches; the facility is also called an open-air inhalatorium.
The Feistritz also opens up opportunities for planning an active excursion. River walks and canoe trips are available in the municipality of Feistritztal. Cyclists will find a starting point in Kaibing directly on the Wechselstraße B54 at the “Park & Bike” car park. The southern section of the Feistritztal Cycle Path R8 offers a detour of around one kilometre to Maria Fieberbründl. The cycling tour through the Stubenberg Gorge also starts at the “Park & Bike” car park. This makes it possible to plan various activities around a clearly defined starting point.
Wine and Regional Character
The Buschenschank Breitenberger is also part of the regional character. Cellar tours and wine seminars are offered there. The Buschenschank produces quality wines on the slopes of Kaibingberg. Those who enjoy combining landscapes, local production and expert insights while travelling can take this aspect into account when choosing their excursions.
Which Accommodation Suits Your Travel Plans?
When choosing a holiday apartment in Kaibing, it is worth first deciding on the desired focus of your holiday. For cultural days, the local history collection and Maria Fieberbründl are the main attractions. Those who prefer exercise can plan the Fieberbründl Circular Trail, the Feistritz, the Feistritztal Cycle Path R8 or the cycling tour through the Stubenberg Gorge. Wine seminars and cellar tours provide another highlight. Families can therefore switch between shared discoveries, active activities and quieter programme items without restricting their holiday to just one type of travel.
