In the Kreuzstadel Museum, the “Memorial Room 1664” commemorates the historic battle against the Ottomans in 1664 with pictures, documents and exhibits. The Schlachtboden on Schlösslberg offers another historical perspective. Through decades of efforts as well as national and international events and activities, it has become a place of understanding between peoples and peace.

In the artists’ village of Neumarkt an der Raab, cultural history has been written in the studio houses for more than 50 years. As part of the summer academy, art courses are held under the direction of internationally renowned artists. For those interested in religious art, the pilgrimage church of “Maria Heimsuchung” in Maria Bild is a special place to visit: It contains a devotional image based on a copy of the image of the Virgin Mary from Máriapócs in eastern Hungary.

The Uhudlerviertel district on Hochkogel lies on a south-facing slope around two kilometres above Eltendorf. The old wine cellars are idyllically nestled into the hillside and invite you to relax and linger. The castle ruins of Neuhaus am Klausenbach offer a different view of the landscape and can be reached via a footpath from the village of Neuhaus. From the observation tower, the view extends across the Neuhaus hills and Slovenia to Tabor and Kapfenstein castles and into the Styrian hill country.

The Jost Mill also combines regional tradition with practical experiences. Guided tours can cover types of grain and flour, their identification and use, nutrition tips, as well as cooking and baking courses. From April onwards, handicrafts and culinary delights are offered there on the first Sunday of every month.
