A prominent historic site is the Franciscan monastery in Güssing. It was founded in 1648/49 by Adam Count Batthyány I. The Josef Reichl and Emigrants Museum is open for visits from May to October on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., or by appointment.

The Güssing ponds add a strong natural element. The Ramsar protected area is an important breeding ground for waterfowl. The wetland is also home to more than 30 dragonfly species as well as numerous frogs, toads, European fire-bellied toads and newts. The Güssing Cultural Centre and the Gerersdorf Open-Air Museum Ensemble serve as venues for the Güssing Cultural Summer. The Güssing Cultural Summer was founded in 2001 by Frank Hoffmann. Since the 1980s, Musical Güssing has staged musical productions at the end of every summer.
