Meşrutiyet Village combines a two-level village park with a geologically distinctive cave nearby. If you are looking for a holiday rental in Meşrutiyet, you can consider the village itself and other destinations in Şile district as different focal points: from a fossil karst cave and hiking trails to coastal views in Ağva.

Cave and Village Park

Meşrutiyet Cave, also known as Mağaraaltı Mağarası, is located near the destination. It is dry, 40 metres long and a fossil karst cave. It consists of white Ahmetli limestone from the Upper Cretaceous. Its name, length and rock type each add a distinct feature to its natural appeal: the alternative name helps identify it, while its geological classification characterises the cave beyond its shape.

Meşrutiyet Köy Parkı is arranged on two levels and covers 1,170 m². This clearly defined village park complements the cave’s natural-history appeal. Meşrutiyet (Kurucadere) Orman Parkı is a forest park in Istanbul, operated by Şile Municipality.

Nature and Coastal Experiences in Greater Şile

Hacıllı offers a different kind of excursion within Şile district. The area is often visited by campers and nature lovers; Hacıllı Waterfall is recommended as a destination for a day in nature and can be reached by a hiking trail. Unlike the cave, whose character is conveyed by its length and rock type, the hiking trail is explicitly part of the described route to this waterfall.

For another experience, the municipality recommends a boat trip from Ağva. Kilim Koyu is also in Ağva, an important place to visit in Şile, with sea views and striking rock formations. When planning, you can distinguish between geological nature, a hiking destination and an outing connected with the water or coast, without conflating these regional destinations with the immediate character of Meşrutiyet itself.

Şile Cloth and Regional Specialties

At the district level, Şile cloth is a defining craft: the fabric is carefully woven on handlooms and protected by a geographical indication of origin. Regional cuisine also has several specific associations. Sourdough bread from the village is one of the types of bread commonly made and eaten in the villages of Şile.

Şile chestnut honey is made from the nectar of chestnut blossoms. These bloom every June in chestnut forests covering 11 to 12 hectares in the forests of Şile. The specialty therefore has a clear seasonal connection. Şile Yeryüzü Pazarı was established in 2015 as Istanbul’s only market certified by Slow Food. The market’s concept includes produce from local producers, grown using traditional farming methods and exclusively from seeds of traditional varieties, as well as direct sales to the public. Check current market information if you are planning a visit.

Getting There and Choosing a Location

Işık University’s Şile campus is located in Meşrutiyet Mahallesi in Şile. Check the address listed on the campus website before setting off. IETT route 139T stops at Meşrutiyet Köyü Sapağı in Şile. The campus website also lists route 139 on the Üsküdar–Şile route and route 139A on the Üsküdar–Şile/Ağva route. IETT services from the campus connect with metro line M5 Çekmeköy–Üsküdar.

At certain times of day, shuttle buses run in both directions between the campus and Kadıköy, Maslak and Çekmeköy Metrogarden. Cooperative minibuses run between Şile centre, the campus and Çekmeköy metro station. For the schedules and routes of the listed IETT bus services, the university refers visitors to iett.istanbul. Check the latest information before travelling.

When choosing a holiday rental, it helps to consider Meşrutiyet and the other destinations in the district separately: the village park and nearby cave are local points of interest, while Hacıllı and Ağva offer different experiences. If these outings are to shape your stay, compare the specific accommodation location with your planned destinations and check transport information in advance.
