Five waterfall tiers and a natural pool below make Curug Jeglong a distinctive natural attraction in Kecamatan Plantungan. Kendal also offers a wide range of other experiences: from a cave with a Javanese legend to expansive tea gardens, as well as beach and water park activities. You can therefore choose a holiday rental based on the excursions that interest you most.

Waterfalls, a Cave and a Tea Landscape

At Curug Jeglong, the five successive tiers and natural pool define the character of the waterfall. The grounds also include a pine forest with stages, viewpoints and selfie spots. Toilets, a prayer room and a canteen round out the facilities. This means a visit to the waterfall can also take in other areas of the grounds, rather than focusing solely on the cascades.

Curug Sewu is located in Desa Wisata Curug Sewu, Kecamatan Patean. Temanggung, Batang and Semarang are possible directions from which to approach it. This makes the waterfall a distinct excursion destination, while Curug Jeglong is located in a different kecamatan. Both destinations offer waterfall experiences in Kabupaten Kendal, but each has its own local setting.

In Desa Trayu, Kecamatan Singorojo, Goa Kiskendo brings together nature and storytelling traditions. The cave contains large rock formations of stalagmites and stalactites. It is associated with a wayang legend about the battle between the monkey armies of Sugriwa and Subali. The grounds include a campsite and a bridge from which visitors can view the surrounding hills, river and rice fields. Those who would like to discover a story as well as the scenery will find a different kind of excursion here than at the waterfalls.

Another landscape awaits at Kebun Teh Medini in Desa Ngesrep Balong, Kecamatan Limbangan: the tea gardens cover around 386 hectares and lie at an elevation of 2,050 metres above sea level. Visitors typically walk through the tea gardens or pitch a tent at the campsite. This offers two different ways to visit: a stroll through the tea fields or an overnight stay in a tent.

Culture and a Range of Excursion Ideas

Masjid Al-Muttaqin is located in Kecamatan Kaliwungu. It was first established in 1653 as a place for Islamic preaching and features ornaments with distinctly Javanese design elements. In Limbangan, Kampoeng Djowo Sekatul offers a traditional Javanese rural atmosphere reminiscent of earlier times, with joglo-style buildings; it is not far from Semarang. The two destinations offer different points of interest for a trip that takes in architecture and cultural experiences as well as nature.

Other activities include boat trips on the lake at Tirto Arum Baru, at Jl. Raya Pantura No. 21, Bugangin, Kecamatan Kendal. Visitors can go horseback riding at Santosa Park & Stable in Desa Pasigitan, Boja, which also has a riding school with a large riding arena and suitable facilities. River Walk Boja offers a mini water park. These attractions provide different options—a boat trip, horseback riding or water park activities—rather than limiting you to one type of excursion.

Water and relaxation also come together in different ways: Promas Greenland in Nglimut, Gonoharjo, offers cold and hot water baths. Plantera offers fruit picking in gardens with durian, rambutan, longan, water guava, srikaya, oranges, dragon fruit and corn. At Pantai Cahaya in Desa Sendang Sikucing, the edutainment offering combines a beach visit, animal encounters and water park activities. The grounds cover around 4 hectares and are managed by PT. Wersut Seguni Indonesia.

Pantai Sendang Sikucing in Kecamatan Rowosari can be reached via a well-maintained paved road that is also suitable for tour buses. When looking for accommodation, you can first decide whether waterfalls, the cave and tea gardens, culture, boat trips, or beach and water park activities should be the focus. The Kendal destination page offers another introduction to the area.
