Ryanair, one of the most successful budget airlines in the world, opens new direction in its schedule. The airport of Chania, the second largest airport on Crete, will host two Ryanair flights.

Ryanair flights to Crete will be conducted from the airport of Hahn (Frankfurt) and Bergamo (Milan). About introduction of the new flights became known on March 24, 2011. It is planned that the first flights will be carried out in May 2011.

Opening of the Crete direction Ryanair timed to the program of discounts on pre-booked flights in the end of April and May. Tickets, including Crete direction, are sold for just 7 euros. The last day of the program fell on March 28, 2011.

The volume of passenger traffic on Milan-Crete and Frankfurt-Crete Ryanair new directions is estimated at 60,000 people per season for each direction.

It is worth noting that currently there are no direct Ryanair flights from Russia and CIS countries. The closest airport to Russia, where you can meet Ryanair, is located in the Finnish city of Lappeenranta. It is worth noting that since March 30, 2011 Ryanair launched flight Lappeenranta-Bergamo. Airfare is 26 euros. Thus, for Russians, such direction can be considered as a conditional budget way to get to the Crete resorts.

Ryanair is the airline, which makes about 1,500 flights per day. By the end of 2010, passenger traffic of the company was amounted to more than 73 million people.
