On the third Friday of June, on 18 June 2010 in the historic Czech town of ÄŒeský Krumlov begins an unusual, but very entertaining festival - Five-petalled Rose Festival. This holiday is preserved since ancient times and the tourist, who visits it in ÄŒeský Krumlov also seems to be transferred into the Middle Ages. Celebration is held in honor of the Rosenbergs (in Czech - Ruzhmberks), who owned Krumlov since 1302 for three hundred years. Even its name - Five-petalled Rose Festival - it received in honor of rose, which is drawn on the family coat of arms of noble family and which so far is part of the city emblem of ÄŒeský Krumlov.

Start of the festival at 12 am is announced by the mayor on the town square, after which the procession moves through the streets of Krumlov with flags, drums and torches. And for the next three days, during which will last the fest, the whole ÄŒeský Krumlov will plunge into the atmosphere of medieval romance. Virtually all citizens and visitors are dressed up in old costumes, which can be rented for the holiday. On the streets of the city can be met representatives of all classes and strata of medieval society from elegant ladies and nobles to knights and king’s fools in caps with bells. Entrance to all ceremonial events in medieval costumes is free. In addition to theatrical performances and performances of street artists guests will see the competition in accuracy among the musketeers, jousts and ceremonial procession of horse knights in full armor. In addition, special attention should be given to the medieval fair, which will be organized in the castle park. There are sold everything - from bread baked according to old recipes to the complete sets of knight's weapons, or you can learn the various trades, for example, be an apprentice at the blacksmith, where are forged products directly in the front of the guests, or to observe the work of peasant women spinning the yarn.

Cesky Krumlov is located in South Bohemia on the bank of the Vltava River in a picturesque area, surrounded by forests and hills, it is known for its beautifully preserved castle complex which overlooks the city and is the second largest after Prague. Since 1992, the city and the castle were added to the list of World Cultural Heritage by UNESCO.
