Family holidays with a pool

A pool can enrich a family holiday, but it does not replace close adult supervision or a suitable daily routine. Before booking, check access, depth, visibility, safety features, shade, rules, costs and alternatives for days when bathing is not possible.

Clarify the pool and its use

Ask whether the pool is private, shared, indoor or outdoor. Confirm depth, entry, steps or ladder, water temperature, opening times and distance from the house. Supervision and access

Children can reach water quickly, so check the route from bedrooms, living areas and terraces to the pool. Ask about fencing, gates, covers, alarms, non-slip surfaces, lighting and rescue equipment. Agree which adult is supervising and never rely on swimming aids or other guests. The German Life-Saving Society offers general water-safety information; the property’s actual conditions must still be confirmed.

Shade, breaks and equipment

Shade, drinking water, seating, a nearby toilet, a shower and a place for dry clothes make pool days easier. Ask whether towels, cot, high chair, pool equipment and outdoor furniture are included.
