Eagle Bay: Coast, Beach and Local Flavours
Accommodation in Eagle Bay
Eagle Bay is a small coastal town at the tip of Cape Naturaliste. A broad sandy beach, a coastal walking trail, a dive wreck and several places to eat and drink are among the town’s highlights. If you’re looking for a holiday rental in Eagle Bay, consider which of these holiday priorities you’d like to shape your stay: time by the water, exploring the coast on foot, a diving experience or local produce.
Beach Days and Activities on the Water
Eagle Bay Beach faces north. Its broad sandy shore has shallow, calm water for swimming. Near Point Piquet, the beach is also ideal for kayaking, snorkelling, photography and picnics. There are different ways to enjoy your time by the sea, from swimming and getting out on the water to taking a break on the beach. The northern section of Eagle Bay Beach at the Eagle Bay Boat Ramp is dog-friendly—a helpful guide if you’re travelling with a dog.
Eagle Bay also has a special draw for diving enthusiasts: the HMAS Swan dive wreck. It is located in Eagle Bay and is associated with an artificial reef that is home to diverse marine life. The wreck and reef give this part of the coastal town a different focus from the beach and swimming.
Coastal Trail and Wildflowers
If you prefer to explore on foot, you can include the Meelup Regional Park Coastal Trail in your travel plans. The walking trail ends in Eagle Bay. Wildflowers may be seen along the coastal path westwards through the Meelup Reserve to Eagle Bay, including Spider, Donkey, Enamel, Mustard and Jug orchids, as well as the rare Dunsborough Orchids. The trail and the beach offer different ways to experience the coast—walking through the landscape or spending time by the water.
Local Places for Food and Produce
Family-owned Eagle Bay Brewing Co is a brewpub with an on-site production brewery, restaurant, garden bar and vineyard in Eagle Bay. Its offerings include craft beer, wine, local produce and fresh dishes. Brewery lunches and late-afternoon drinks are also available. If you’re interested in brewing and food, you’ll find several experiences in one place, from beer made in the production brewery to the restaurant.
The Wise Wine estate includes a winery, distillery and restaurant. Walk-in tastings of small-batch wines and spirits are available at the cellar door. This offers a different kind of food and drink experience from the brewpub, with wine and spirits alongside the winery and distillery.
Eagle Bay Olives is a family-owned grove with 1,200 olive trees. The farm shop offers a tasting selection of olives, oils, jams, chutneys, tapenades, freshly baked bread and honey. The wide selection combines olive products with other savoury and sweet produce.
