Falconer: Parks, Market and Paddling
Accommodation in Falconer
Falconer offers several different reasons to spend time outdoors: Falconer Park focuses on sports, play and walking paths, while Abe-Mattison Millrace Park has a launch for small watercraft on the Chadakoin River. Davis Park has memorials and, on selected Sundays, a market selling locally grown fruit and vegetables. This gives you a choice when planning your trip between time in a park, a trip out on the water and a market visit scheduled for a specific time.
Sports, play and walking paths at Falconer Park
Falconer Park is the largest park in Falconer. It is on the western side of town, off Richard Avenue. Its recreational amenities include ball fields, tennis and basketball courts, play equipment and walking paths; Moon Brook Creek is also part of the park. The different options give you flexibility in planning your day: you can focus on physical activity on the sports facilities, include the play equipment or set aside time for a walk. If you are traveling with children, you can plan to use the play equipment as a separate activity without limiting your visit to just one thing to do.
For a break in the park, three pavilions with picnic tables and grills are available. These pavilions can be reserved during the summer months. This adds a specific place for a shared meal break to the open recreational options. If having a pavilion matters to your visit, include a summer reservation in your plans; the sports facilities, play equipment and walking paths offer different reasons to spend time at Falconer Park.
A launch for canoes and kayaks
At Abe-Mattison Millrace Park, the Chadakoin River has a launch for small watercraft such as canoes and kayaks. If you are planning a water activity using one of these craft, you can consider this park the designated place for it in Falconer. For exact directions on site: the entrance to Abe-Mattison Millrace Park is behind Fancher Chair Company. This makes the reasons to visit this park quite different from the sports, play and walking options at Falconer Park. When planning your trip, the first thing to consider is whether you want land-based park activities or a river launch among your desired experiences.
Market and memorials at Davis Park
The “Village of Falconer Farmers’ and Artisans’ Market” offers locally grown fruit and vegetables. It takes place on selected Sundays from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., from mid-June through September, at Davis Park. The market is therefore limited to specific days of the week and hours; plan your visit according to whether your stay coincides with one of the selected Sundays. The focus here is seasonal shopping, rather than the sports and play options at Falconer Park.
Davis Park also has memorials honoring people who served in the armed forces. Alongside the market, they give the park another dimension related to remembrance. When planning your visit, you can distinguish between going to the market and visiting the memorials without combining the two into a single activity.
When choosing a vacation rental in Falconer, you can use your planned experiences as a guide: a market visit depends on a selected Sunday, a water activity on the launch on the Chadakoin River, and time for sports, play or walks on the options at Falconer Park. The parks offer different ways to shape your stay; which one matters most to you depends on your travel plans.
