True Blue: Food Village and Cocoa Experience
Accommodation in True Blue
True Blue offers two distinct culinary experiences. The Container Park is home to a Food Village with burgers, sushi, Indian cuisine and dishes from a smokehouse. Cocoa by the Bay is a chocolate experience at the True Blue Bay Boutique Resort, featuring handcrafted chocolate and cocoa experiences by the bay. While the Container Park focuses on a range of cuisines, Cocoa by the Bay is specifically about cocoa and chocolate.
Food Village and Cocoa in True Blue
If food and cocoa are key factors in choosing where to stay, these two themes offer a practical starting point for your search for a holiday rental in True Blue. The offerings of individual vendors in the Food Village and their opening hours may change. The availability of specific cocoa workshops may also vary.
St George: History and Culture
In the wider destination of St George, cultural and historical attractions complement the culinary experiences in True Blue. The Grenada National Museum is located in downtown St. George’s, in one of Grenada’s oldest buildings. It is dedicated to preserving, interpreting and promoting the history and culture of Grenada, Carriacou and Petite Martinique. Much of St. George’s historic architecture dates from the 19th century; buildings along the Carenage are examples.
Fort Matthew was built between 1784 and 1790. Its 18th-century bathrooms, army kitchens and cell blocks are largely preserved. Visitors can walk through the preserved tunnel system; confirm current access arrangements on site. Fort Frederick is one of the best-preserved bastions in the Caribbean. From there, panoramic views stretch from the nearby Carenage and the Caribbean Sea to the forested ridges in the north.
Coast, Underwater World and Nature
The Underwater Sculpture Park is an underwater gallery and snorkeling area in the Molinere Beauséjour Marine Protected Area. As an artificial reef, it attracts marine life. The Coral Carnival installation comprises 25 large-scale works featuring masked figures from Spicemas, the carnival held every August. Motifs from this cultural event can thus be found in the underwater world.
Grand Anse Beach is a two-mile-long beach with white sand and calm turquoise water. It offers water sports as well as an arts, crafts and spice market. Annandale Waterfalls form a 30-foot cascade surrounded by a garden of colorful blossoms and tropical vegetation. The pool below the falls is suitable for a leisurely swim, alone or with family; an interpretation center covers the surrounding ecosystem.
When searching for a holiday rental, you can start by deciding what matters most to you: True Blue focuses on the Food Village and cocoa experience, while the wider destination of St George also encompasses urban history, forts, the underwater world, beaches and waterfalls.
