Ham-Nord: Wooden Church, Brewing Culture and Nature
Accommodation in Ham-Nord
A large wooden church, a brewery with its own growing fields and a park with seasonal community life give Ham-Nord its distinctive character. Nearby, the Sentier des cascades leads to the Rivière Des Vases. The area offers several ways to plan your vacation: architectural history, brewing culture, local food, summer activities or nature by the water.
A wooden church with a distinctive organ
The Église des Saints-Anges was built in 1899–1900. It is one of Ham-Nord’s oldest buildings and one of the municipality’s historic founding sites. It is also the largest wooden church in the Archdiocese of Sherbrooke. Its organ also makes a visit notable for music and architecture enthusiasts: the oldest still-functioning mechanical-action organ in the MRC d’Arthabaska is located here. Access to the historic church is seasonal; check current visiting options before you go.
Brewery, fields and tastings
At La Grange Pardue, farming and brewing go hand in hand. Barley, hops and other crops used as beer ingredients are grown on 100 acres of land. From inside or outside the tasting room, you can take in views of the growing fields, the village of Ham-Nord and the Appalachians. The view of the barley and hop fields and the Appalachians also shapes the brewery’s panorama.
The visitor program includes hosted tastings of four products and guided outdoor tours of the fields and brewery. The outdoor interpretive trail introduces visitors to farming and brewing processes; along the way, you can taste beer brewed according to sustainable development principles. If these offerings are a priority for your stay, confirm their current availability directly with the brewery in advance.
Market and summer life
The Petit marché de Ham-Nord offers vegetables from Ferme Bio-Maraîchère, certified organic by Québec Vrai. As well as brewing, growing local food is one of the tangible things you can discover in Ham-Nord.
Parc du 150e is home to a life-size horse sculpture made of recycled metal. It was created by Indra Singh, an artist of Indian origin. The park also has a pavilion and a picnic area. In summer, part of it becomes a community garden where residents can sow, tend and harvest vegetables and flowers. During the summer, Parc du 150e also hosts a local market, cultural events and summer activities. If you plan to visit for a specific event, check the dates in advance.
Along the river
Near Ham-Nord, the Sentier des cascades is a quiet, family-friendly trail of about 1.5 km along the Rivière Des Vases. It passes through woodland to the water; there are picnic spots and opportunities to observe the river. Information panels share details about the surrounding geology and flora. Depending on the season, the trail is accessible on foot or, in winter, on snowshoes. It combines physical activity with a close-up view of the riverside landscape.
Choose the right focus for your vacation rental
Seasonal conditions vary: access to the church is seasonal, activities at Parc du 150e take place during the summer, and you should confirm the availability of guided offerings at La Grange Pardue with the brewery.
