Set on the shore of Lac Tapani, Sainte-Anne-Du-Lac combines a distinctive lake landscape with trails to suit different interests. In winter, snowshoe routes take centre stage; the Sentier du Lac Boucher offers a different perspective on nature and is also suitable for mountain biking. There is also a Romanesque church and an exhibition of historical photographs. When planning your trip, you can therefore decide how to balance outdoor activities, scenery, and local history.

Lake scenery and views of Lac Caïn

The Sentier du Lac Boucher features signs about the local flora and leads to a lookout with panoramic views of Lac Caïn. The same trail is suitable for mountain biking. You can choose this route based on the activity you have in mind: explore the flora and enjoy the view on foot, or ride the trail on a mountain bike.

Snowshoe trails in winter

In winter, the Sentiers Tapani offer two loop trails on the east side of Lac Tapani. They pass through a maple grove and end at a shelter with a wood-burning stove. Trail length and difficulty level are especially useful when comparing the snowshoe routes.

Petite Boucle is an easy, 1.2-kilometre snowshoe trail. At 3.3 kilometres, L’Érablière is longer and has a moderate difficulty level. If you are looking for a shorter, easy route, you could consider Petite Boucle; if you prefer a longer route of moderate difficulty, L’Érablière is another option. These details let you weigh the two trails by distance and difficulty without assuming a walking time.

At the Sentiers Tapani, snowshoes and cross-country skis can be borrowed free of charge from the relay station at 10 Rue Bélanger. The station is at the start and end of the route. If you plan to borrow equipment, this gives you a specific location and address to use as a reference. The offer includes both types of equipment mentioned; this is separate from choosing between the snowshoe trails described above.

The church and local history in photographs

The area’s cultural history is also part of its character. The Church of Sainte-Anne in Sainte-Anne-Du-Lac was built in 1922 in the Romanesque style. Its architecture offers a point of interest for anyone interested in architectural history as well as outdoor activities. Another way to learn about the community is through “Mémoire du temps”: the permanent exhibition features historical photographs of local places and people. This broadens the focus beyond buildings to include local views and the people captured in the photographs.

Travel information

Sainte-Anne-Du-Lac is at the northern end of Route 309, a prominent geographic landmark for orientation. The town is also considered the last place to stock up before travellers set out into the vast wilderness areas of the Laurentides. If your travel plans include heading into these areas, this is part of what makes the town distinctive.
