Greenwood: Local History, Remembrance and Trails
Accommodation in Greenwood
Greenwood brings together local history, commemorative culture and outdoor activities. Options range from a self-guided walk through the town centre to seasonal swimming. You can plan your stay around the interests that matter most to you.
Local History in Greenwood
The self-guided Heritage Walking Tour takes you through the town centre. Along the route, you can learn about historic buildings and landmarks, with local history at its heart. The self-guided format gives you the opportunity to explore these topics at your own pace.
The Courthouse at City Hall formerly served as the Supreme Court of British Columbia in the County of Yale. A guided tour of the Courthouse can be booked through the museum; visits are arranged with the museum. If you plan to take this tour, arrange your visit with the museum accordingly.
Remembrance and Garden Design
At Nikkei Legacy Park, information panels and family memorial plaques tell the story of the Nikkei community’s resilience. The park was redesigned with a Japanese rock garden in the style of the 15th century. The Japanese rock garden opened in 2025. The park therefore highlights both the history and remembrance of the Nikkei community and a distinctive garden design.
Trails for Different Activities
The Kettle Valley Railway Trail (KVR) is a multi-use trail where visitors can hike, cycle and enjoy other activities. Greenwood also provides access to the Trans Canada Trail, formerly known as the Columbia & Western Railway. The two trails offer different ways to explore actively on foot or by bike.
The Boundary Creek Nature Walk runs along Boundary Creek, parallel to the Trans Canada Trail, and forms loops through Greenwood. The City of Greenwood and the Greenwood Board of Trade established it in 1999. Visitors can walk, birdwatch and fish there. Unlike the KVR, which is described as a hiking and cycling trail, the Boundary Creek Nature Walk also offers birdwatching and fishing.
Seasonal Swimming
The Greenwood Municipal Community Pool is a seasonal recreational pool that offers public swimming in July and August. If swimming is an essential part of your stay, take this period into account when planning. Unlike the trails and historic tours, public swimming is seasonal.
Plan Your Stay Around Your Interests
If you’re looking for a vacation rental in Greenwood, use your preferred focus for your stay as a guide: local history, Nikkei commemorative culture and outdoor activities appeal to different interests. Seasonal swimming is also available in July and August.
