Other trails pass through urban forest, follow both rivers, lead to viewpoints and wind through the historic downtown. In winter, the Rotary Trail is cleared for walking and cycling.

The interactive Golden Stroll presents local history through videos that can be accessed using QR codes along the Rotary Trail. Two routes offer different experiences: the longer Reflections Loop includes 15 video stations and follows the Kicking Horse River, through the forest and up to Reflection Lake Ridge. The shorter Confluence Walk has six stations and follows the river to Confluence Park. At 8th Ave North, the Kicking Horse Pedestrian Bridge connects downtown with residential neighbourhoods and spans the Kicking Horse River. It is 46 metres (151 feet) wide and Canada’s longest free-span timber-frame bridge. The bridge connects to the Rotary Trail; the community of Golden considers it a symbol of collaboration. In winter, a scheduled shuttle runs daily directly from Calgary Airport to Golden and Kicking Horse Mountain Resort. Check current availability and the schedule before travelling. Within the town, the seasonal Golden Kicking Horse Connector links downtown with the resort’s slopes. It stops at several locations in Golden and runs regularly during the day and on Friday and Saturday evenings; here, too, it is a good idea to check the current schedule.

Kicking Horse Mountain Resort is a few minutes from downtown. Its offerings include alpine hiking trails, gondola rides, downhill mountain biking, powder skiing and scenic views year-round; operations vary by season. The resort is therefore a nearby option for activities beyond the trails and attractions within the town. The experiences you want to focus on may also influence where you choose to stay.

For winter days in town, there are five outdoor skating rinks, including ones at Mount 7 Rec Plex and Keith King Memorial Park.
