Nature

The Issyk-Kul State Nature Reserve is located in Anan’yevo. A project to redevelop the reserve in Anan’yevo is intended to support ecotourism and nature conservation. A wildlife rehabilitation centre was established in the mountains near Anan’yevo in 2002. Recovered animals are released there when they are deemed capable of surviving in the wild. In addition to snow leopards, the centre near Anan’yevo has housed lynxes and rare birds. A visit to the snow leopard rehabilitation centre in Anan’yevo was part of the itinerary of a media tour.

Region

Lake Issyk-Kul is described as the world’s second-largest high-altitude lake and as remaining ice-free in winter. The Issyk-Kul mountain region is described as an area where near-natural habitats have been preserved alongside traditional culture.

Culture

The Church of St Nicholas the Wonderworker is located at 21 Sovetsky Lane in Anan’yevo. Anan’yevo is also home to a museum and a monument connected with Nikolai Ananyev.

Faith

A monument to St Irakli of Issyk-Kul stands in Anan’yevo’s Orthodox cemetery. The grave of St Irakli in Anan’yevo is regularly visited by pilgrims from Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan and Russia.

Geographical Location
