Access to Lake Köl-Tör passes through Yur’yevka, Syntash, and Rot-Front before entering the Kegeti Gorge. On the approach to Lake Köl-Tör via Yur’yevka, the asphalt turns into an unpaved track once the road reaches the Kegeti Gorge. The trail to Lake Köl-Tör is clearly visible and marked; signposts indicate the elevation and the distance to the next major point. Lake Köl-Tör lies in a side branch of the Kegeti Gorge at an altitude of approximately 2,700 meters above sea level. The distance from the parking area to the lake is 7.5 kilometers; the hike takes approximately 3 hours 30 minutes and involves an elevation gain of 1,000 meters.

Access to the Kegeti Waterfall through the Kegeti Gorge also leads via Yur’yevka, Syntash, and Rot-Front. Before the bridge over the Kegeti River, there is an environmental checkpoint where vehicles are registered and environmental fees are paid. The Kegeti Waterfall is located approximately 200 meters from the road and can be reached via an easy path.

Routes

The Tash-Bashat–Issyk-Ata mountain route ends in Yur’yevka at the gorge’s exit from the mountains. The road from Yur’yevka to the Issyk-Ata resort crosses the Issyk-Ata River on a bridge approximately two kilometers beyond the village. A mountain route leads from Bishkek or Tokmok through Yur’yevka to the Issyk-Ata resort and onward into the Issyk-Ata Gorge. A route variant from the Kegeti Gorge continues via Yur’yevka to Kant and Bishkek.

The Issyk-Ata resort, accessible by road from Yur’yevka, is based on thermal springs; reports give the temperatures of the boreholes as around 40 °C. After completing the Tash-Bashat–Issyk-Ata route, travelers can continue from Yur’yevka by bus to Frunze.

Landscape

Yur’yevka is connected with the Issyk-Ata River, local springs, and lakes. As a result, the settlement is characterized by a water-rich rural landscape with recreational potential near the foothills and waterways.

History

A documented local tradition connects the area of Yur’yevka with the former Turkish name “Kara-Suu” and with a branch of the Silk Road that caravans used when crossing mountain passes.
