Pawlodar: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Anyone wishing to rent a holiday apartment in Pawlodar can then continue searching for accommodation. The region is known for the Bayanaul recreation area, a network of salt lakes, the Shaldai pine forest, and a registered network of 89 tourist routes and hiking trails.

Culture

In the centre of Pawlodar stands the Mashkhur-Zhusup Mosque, set in a landscaped 6.2-hectare area with trees and green spaces. The octagonal building has four 63-metre-high minarets and a 54-metre-high dome. The mosque includes a museum of Islam and the history of the mosque, a library, and a video room. Religious lectures in Kazakh and Russian as well as educational programmes for spiritual development are also held there.

The D. P. Bagaev House Museum presents exhibitions in three rooms and a restored photographic pavilion attached to the house. It is Pawlodar’s only memorial museum and, at the same time, Kazakhstan’s only museum dedicated to a photographer and local historian. The house museum is open Tuesday to Sunday from 09:00 to 18:00. It also works with contemporary photographers and develops presentations for their exhibitions.

The House Museum of Maira Shamsutdinova’s Song Art was opened in 2001 in a listed building constructed in 1900. The Museum of Military Glory displays authentic weapons, photographs, orders, medals, personal documents, and letters connected with the Second World War. Presentations, academic conferences, and patriotic clubs are also held there.

The Schafer House is Kazakhstan’s only gramophone record museum. Its collection comprises 25,000 gramophone records, 1,500 reel-to-reel tape recordings, and 1,500 audio cassettes. Recording evenings and literary and musical evenings featuring writers, musicians, and artists from Pawlodar are held at the Schafer House.

History

Pawlodar’s Roman Catholic church is a red-brick building constructed in 1999. Pawlodar’s River Station stands on Academician Chokin Street on the Irtysh. It was built in 1969 on the site of an older passenger pier. A commemorative plaque at the River Station recalls Elena, Nikolai, and Yuri Roerich’s stop there on 6 June 1926 during the Trans-Himalaya Expedition.

The Potanin Regional Museum of History and Local Lore accepts requests for visits and guided tours.

On the Irtysh

The Ertis Promenade on the Irtysh’s central waterfront hosts concerts, evening discos, open-air films, and outdoor training sessions.
