Seven camping zones have been created in the Almaty mountain area. In remote mountainous areas, 15 mountain huts have been installed to provide shelter and support with first aid in emergencies.

A cable car to Kok-Tobe ascends over Almaty's city districts and offers views of the city and the mountain ranges of the Trans-Ili Alatau. At the summit of Kok-Tobe, there are viewing platforms, cafés, rides and promenades. The Arbat on Panfilov Street is a pedestrian zone for walking, meeting up and relaxing.
