Chaschuri is home to the Khashuri Tower, a cylindrical architectural monument dating from the 18th century. Built from river stone, it has a diameter of 9 metres. The tower was restored in 1959 and again in 1999.
Its southern entrance is 3 metres above the ground and has an arched door. Above the entrance is a recessed cross made of blue-glazed stones. The floors of the Khashuri Tower are connected by a staircase built into the wall.
The Khashuri Local Lore Museum was founded in 1959. It houses ethnographic, archaeological and photographic documentary material covering mainly the Khashuri area.
Geographical setting
In Khashuri, the Tbilisi–Batumi transport corridor intersects with the Khashuri–Akhaltsikhe railway line. The town also has a tourist information centre of the Georgian National Tourism Administration at 46a Borjomi Street.
Museum
The Khashuri Local Lore Museum has been included in the municipality’s local museum programme for 2026. The aims of this programme include involving visitors and increasing the area’s tourism potential.
Some of the museum’s exhibits have been shown at exhibitions at international level. The 2026 museum programme also includes exhibitions on cultural heritage, as well as research and educational activities.
The Khashuri Local Lore Museum has a scientific library that is accessible to students and young people.
