Zanavi Fortress dates back to the High Middle Ages and includes a three-storey tower. It also contains a water reservoir.

The fortress is located in Patara Zanavi, in the municipality of Adigeni, about 5 km from Adigeni. Patara Zanavi is also home to Chulevi Monastery, with its domed Church of St. George dating from the 14th century. A waterfall is located a few metres from Chulevi Monastery and is accessible to visitors.

Zanavi is connected with the historic community of Kvabliani in Samtskhe. The area of Zanavi is mentioned in the hagiographic work Life of Serapion Zarzmeli. About 2 km north of Zanavi, in the source area of the Zanavi Gorge, the remains of a large hall church lie in a meadow within a mixed forest. The remains were enclosed by a wall.
