Culture

The Chinti Rock Towers (ჩინთის კლდის კოშკები) are listed in Dusheti Municipality as an 18th-century cultural heritage element. The surviving towers provide insight into medieval construction techniques, although their state of preservation varies. They form a defensive fortification built directly into the steep slate cliffs of the Aragvi Gorge. They stand above the right bank of the Aragvi where the valley narrows before opening out towards the Zhinvali Reservoir.

Another historic local landmark is the Chinti St. Nino Stone, which is associated with legends connected to St. Nino. Chinti also contains representative examples of the region’s stone-based residential architecture.

Geographical Setting

Dusheti includes Pshav-Khevsureti National Park as well as natural formations such as the Roshka Rocks and Lake Tanie. Dambalkhacho is widespread in Khevsureti, although it is typically considered a Pshav speciality.

On the way to Khevsureti, after passing Zhinvali, the road turns towards Chinti; the Zhinvali Reservoir lies to the left.
