Nature
The Akhmeta area includes the Batsara, Babaneuri, and Tusheti protected areas. The Batsara-Babaneuri Protected Areas in the Akhmeta Municipality comprise the Batsara-Babaneuri Nature Reserve and the Ilto Managed Reserve. The latter supports botanical, educational, and adventure ecotours. The Batsara Nature Reserve contains almost 270 hectares of tertiary relic yew forest.
The Tusheti Protected Areas comprise the Tusheti Strict Nature Reserve, Tusheti National Park, and Tusheti Protected Landscape. There are 11 routes there, ranging from 1-day to 6-day trails. The journey from Kvemo Alvani to Omalo is possible only by off-road vehicle.
Activities
Tours in Tusheti include hiking, cycling, horse riding, cultural tours, birdwatching, and observing bezoar goats. Khadori Waterfall, Oreti Lake, and Ortskali Lake are associated with hiking and adventure tourism in the Akhmeta Municipality.
