Nature and Landscape

Ureki is located in the southwestern Kolkheti Lowland between the Black Sea, nearby mountains, and the Supsa and Natane rivers. The climate is humid subtropical. Ureki includes a 1.5-kilometre-long coastline with magnetic sand. This sand generates a natural magnetic field of low intensity and contains magnetite, titanomagnetite, monazite, and zircon. Ureki Beach is reported to be 45 to 50 metres wide.

The sandy beach, seawater, and sea air are associated with therapeutic effects. The sea air is characterised by a high degree of ionisation. In addition, the sand retains heat for a long time, thereby supporting warm sand beach experiences.

Relaxation and Water

A 550-metre-long paved footpath has been laid along the beach. The shallow water is described as suitable for children to swim in. The stated summer season runs from June to mid-September.

At the Kolkhida Sanatorium in Ureki, medically supervised balneological and spa treatments, massages, therapeutic and treatment baths, as well as sand baths, are offered. The Kolkhida Sanatorium is also described as being a two-minute walk from a 250-metre-long black-sand beach. The Kolkhida building is equipped with ramps for visitors with mobility impairments.

Excursions and Surroundings

Kolkheti National Park, which includes part of Guria, offers boat tours near Poti, as well as birdwatching, eco-educational tours, and sport fishing in wetland and Colchian forest landscapes.

Tsvermagala Park is located between Ureki and Shekvetili and covers four hectares on two levels. It includes a mandarin orchard.
