Rivne brings together museums, cultural attractions, and a variety of green spaces and waterscapes. The Regional Museum and Amber Museum focus on collections, while interactive activities are part of the program at the Ostvytsia Historical Reconstruction Park. Hydropark, Taras Shevchenko Park, and the zoo offer different experiences. When choosing a vacation rental, consider which experiences you want to shape your trip, then choose a location that suits the places that matter to you.

Culture, History, and Hands-On Activities

The Rivne Regional Museum of Local History offers themed tours and master classes. Its collection comprises more than 297,000 exhibits, over 20,000 of which are displayed in the permanent exhibition halls and at exhibitions. These figures may change over time. Together, they convey two distinct perspectives: the size of the collection and the portion that visitors can see in exhibitions.

The Amber Museum in Rivne displays pieces of amber up to 40 million years old, found in the Rivne region at different times, as well as amber jewelry. Among its notable objects is an amber amulet disc around 2,500 years old, described as the oldest amber object in Ukraine. Stones containing crystallized insects are also on display. The collection thus brings together regional finds and amber of widely varying forms and ages.

The Ostvytsia Historical Reconstruction Park presents Ukrainian history and traditions through performances, fairs, exhibitions, master classes, lectures, workshops, and other participatory activities. Archery is also available: children and adults can learn it there, though specific opportunities to take part may depend on the visit. The park is in Rivne’s Basivkutskyi district on Marusi Churai Street, next to the Basivkut hillfort, an archaeological monument of national significance. The warm season, from April to October, is recommended for visiting the Ostvytsia museum. Check current visitor information before your trip.

Water and Landscaped Green Spaces

The City Hydropark is a system of waterways in the Ustia River basin. An artificial canal connects it to the Basivkut Reservoir, and it is fed by the Tynnivska and Boyarchyk tributaries. Hydropark has walking paths, bridges over waterways, an area for cycling, scooters, and skateboarding, and a children’s playground. Mosaic-covered concrete sculptures add distinctive accents: “Neptune and the Mermaid,” “Weeping Crocodile,” and “Snails” were installed to mark Rivne’s 700th anniversary.

Taras Shevchenko Park is a nationally significant 19th-century landscape and garden art monument. It covers about 32 hectares. Tree-lined avenues, lakes, and flowerbeds are among its features, along with children’s playgrounds and rides; facilities may change over time. Independence Boulevard offers a different kind of urban gathering place: for decades, it has been a spot for romantic dates, while parents and grandparents rest on its benches.

Wildlife and a Long-Established Landscape

Rivne Zoo is home to 216 animal species. Of these, 108 are listed on the International Red List and 13 in the Red Book of Ukraine; these figures may change. The zoo also includes the remains of an old orchard and a 4.7-hectare natural forest, considered the only natural forest complex within the city. Information boards provide more details about the individual animals; visitors who would like a guided tour can book one.

Choose a Vacation Rental to Suit Your Plans

The attractions vary considerably: collections and amber objects are joined by hands-on cultural activities, while Hydropark, the parks, and the zoo offer different highlights. Consider which experiences matter to you and your travel companions, then compare vacation rental locations with the places you plan to visit.
