Osmoloda offers a variety of hiking days: routes lead to summits such as Fashora, Nerediv, Malyi Kanusiak, Grofa and Parenky. A two-day hike passes through moorlands and offers views from the Moloda Ridge. Cedar Palace in the Pidlute tract adds a cultural and historical dimension. When planning your trip, you can choose between different types of routes and another theme for your stay.

Summit hikes for different time budgets

A route to Fashora (1,175 m) leads from the Studenyi Zvir tract in Osmoloda. It is listed as 7 km, 4 hours and 460 m of elevation gain; the return follows the same route. The route to the summit of Nerediv (1,553 m) passes over Mali (1,510 m) and Serednia (1,639 m). It is listed as 9 km, 6 hours and 838 m of elevation gain. Here, too, the return follows the same route.

Two 9 km routes show that distance alone does not determine how long a hike takes. The route to Malyi Kanusiak (1,620 m) follows the Limnytsia Valley, along the Syvyi stream and through the Splyai tract to the summit. This route is listed as 8 hours with 905 m of elevation gain. By comparison, Nerediv is listed as 6 hours with 838 m. If you are planning a hike with children, walking time and elevation gain can be useful points of comparison before you choose a route.

The route to Grofa (1,748 m) is also listed as 8 hours, but covers 12 km and 1,033 m of elevation gain. It leads through the Moloda River Valley, along the Kotelets and over the Plishche Polonyna. The path first passes through forest, then continues over rocky ground to the summit. This gives you a choice of routes with different distances, elevation gains and terrain, despite the same stated duration.

Another route leads from Osmoloda through the Moloda River Valley and along the Kotelets to the Plishche Polonyna. From there, follow trails marked first in black and then in red to the summit of Parenky (1,736 m). Check current trail conditions before setting out.

In the hiking routes, the name Moloda refers to different places: the Grofa route runs through the Moloda River Valley, while a two-day hike from Osmoloda leads to the summit of Moloda. This route is listed as 30 km with 1,092 m of elevation gain. It passes the Mshana Moor and the Verkhove Moor and offers views from the Moloda Ridge. Its two-day format sets it clearly apart from the routes listed as taking four to eight hours.

Cedar Palace in the Pidlute tract

Cedar Palace is located in the Pidlute tract near Osmoloda and is also known as the dacha or residence of Sheptytsky. Its main building was rebuilt based on the model of the Metropolitans’ cedar chambers. For travelers interested in architectural history as well as mountain hikes, this is a distinct cultural and historical point of interest in Osmoloda.

Choose a holiday apartment to suit your hiking plans

First consider what kind of hiking day fits your travel plans: a climb with four hours of walking, a route taking six or eight hours, or the two-day hike to the summit of Moloda. The routes also differ in terrain, including the valleys, streams, moorland passages and rocky section to Grofa mentioned above. When looking for a holiday apartment in Osmoloda, you can take the starting point of your planned hike into account when choosing a location.
