Geographical Location
Luven is a locality in the municipality of Ilanz/Glion in the Swiss canton of Graubünden. Until the end of 2013, Luven was an independent political municipality.
A bronze buckle found in 1887 and skeletal remains are cited as evidence of settlement in the Luven region during the Bronze Age, approximately between 1800 and 800 BC. The bronze buckle is housed at the Rhaetian Museum in Chur for examination.
Nature
The village lies on the northeastern slope of Piz Mundaun, approximately two kilometres southwest of Ilanz.
A considerable part of the settlement area is used for agriculture and woodland: 345 hectares are suitable for agricultural use, while 293 hectares are covered by forest and wooded areas.
The former municipality of Luven extended from 768 to 1,604 metres above sea level and reached into the natural area of Piz Mundaun and Obersaxen.
