Culture

In 1662, a chapel dedicated to Saint Anthony of Padua was built in Cavardiras; it was replaced by a Baroque church shortly afterwards. The subsidiary church of St. Anthony of Padua is a slender Baroque hall church with pilaster articulation. It stands prominently on a small rise at the edge of the terrace on the valley side and is visible from far away.

Trails

The Camona da Cavardiras CAS can be reached from Disentis, Cumpadials and the Maderanertal valley. The ascent from the Caischavedra mountain railway station to the Camona da Cavardiras leads via Lag Serein and takes approximately 3.5 to 4 hours. From Disentis, the Lag-da-Laus Trail follows a signposted hiking trail towards Brulf and Cavardiras, then continues to the Maiensäss meadows of Caischavedra and on to Lag da Laus.

Nature

The Piz Brit summit is located in the immediate vicinity of Cavardiras. The Piz Ault, Tschingelstöck and Piz Rentiert summits are also located in the surroundings of Cavardiras.

Getting There

Cavardiras can be reached by train from Chur or Andermatt to Disentis, followed by a walk of approximately one hour. The Lag-da-Laus Trail can be reached by train from Chur via Ilanz or from Andermatt via Sedrun to Disentis.
