History

Verdabbio was first documented in 1203 under the name Vertabio.

The locality was an independent political municipality until 31 December 2016.

Geographical Location

Verdabbio is an Italian-speaking locality in the municipality of Grono in the Swiss canton of Graubünden.

The locality lies on a terrace on the right-hand side of the Misox, between the Ria di Val di Cama and Piz Duna, approximately 300 metres above the valley floor.

The locality includes the higher-lying side valley of Val di Cama and the lower-lying area of Piani di Verdabbio west of the Moesa.
