Brienz/Brinzauls: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Brienz/Brinzauls can be discovered via its cultural trail: The route leads to Belfort Castle Ruins, the parish church of St. Calixtus, a commemorative stone dating from 1471, and the old Paunt da la dieschma stone bridge. Culture
The Brienz/Brinzauls cultural trail is marked with green signposts and route number 750. Its cultural assets include the Paunt dalla dieschma stone bridge. The Catholic parish church of St. Calixtus was built between 1513 and 1519 on the remains of a Carolingian church first mentioned around 814.
The choir of St. Calixtus Church contains a masterfully carved late Gothic winged altarpiece, considered the most significant winged altarpiece in Graubünden. The church tower leans due to landslides. In Vazerol, a commemorative stone recalls the union of the Three Leagues in 1471.
The hamlet of Vazerol belongs to the area of Brienz/Brinzauls and lies on the old Julier/Septimer road, the Obere Strasse. The history of Belfort fortress also goes back a long way: It was built around 1230 and served as a new, noble ancestral seat for the Barons of Vaz.
Nature
Brienz/Brinzauls lies on a natural sunny terrace. The village is also located on the road between Lantsch/Lenz and Davos.
Things to do
At Belfort Castle Ruins, visitors can explore the walls, enjoy the view, and climb the steps. The castle ruins can be reached from a car park via a 15-minute walk.
Brienz/Brinzauls is also integrated into a longer cycling route: Stage 7 of Graubünden Bike runs via Bergün, Filisur, Schmitten GR, Alvaneu Dorf, Brienz/Brinzauls, Lantsch/Lenz, and Lenzerheide.
On-site information
According to an update dated 19 August 2026, Brienzerstrasse was closed for safety reasons between Lantsch/Lenz and Brienz/Brinzauls until further notice; a diversion was signposted.
The danger zone above the village of Brienz/Brinzauls remained closed due to the risk of rockfalls, falling boulders, and rock fragments. On 26 January, the area including the village of Brienz/Brinzauls moved into the GREEN phase; the entry ban was lifted, and the village could once again be inhabited and accessed normally.
