The village is situated on a hill west of the Chandon in the molasse hill country of the northern Fribourg Central Plateau.

The Chandon crosses the area from southwest to northeast through a flat valley depression that is up to 300 m wide.

Until 31 December 2016, Villarepos existed as a political municipality; on 1 January 2017, it was incorporated into the municipality of Courtepin.

The larger former municipal area encompasses glacially formed molasse hills between the Broye Plain and the Saane Valley.
