Moutier: Holiday Apartments and Houses

Moutier stretches across the Jura in the valley basin of Moutier, also known as Grand Val. The municipality lies on both sides of the Birs above the mouth of the Raus stream and on the adjacent slopes. Situated at around 535 m above sea level, Moutier is approximately 10 km as the crow flies south of Delsberg.

Nature

The Birs crosses Grand Val from south to north, running across the Jura’s chain structure. Above and below Moutier, it forms significant gorges. The municipal area extends northwestwards to the heights of the Montagne de Moutier. At Les Clos, it reaches up to 1,170 m above sea level; the area is dotted with several sinkholes and features extensive high-altitude Jura pastures with typical tall spruce trees standing individually or in groups.

The wider regional surroundings of Moutier include several named hills: Le Châtillon, Cras au Sauvage and Petit Crêt. Each of these three places is classified as a hill.

Culture
