Höviksnäs on the Hakefjord
Accommodation in Höviksnäs
In the east of Tjörn, Höviksnäs lies directly on the Hakefjord, amid a characteristic rift valley landscape. Låka bathing spot, a small boat harbour and a frisbee golf course offer different ways to enjoy a stay in the area. Landscape, water, recreation and settlement history are all themes through which Höviksnäs can be explored in different ways.
Landscape and townscape
Its location on the Hakefjord and the characteristic landscape in eastern Tjörn give Höviksnäs a clear geographical setting. At the same time, the area includes two distinct settlement areas: a newer residential neighbourhood and an older area with fishing and ferry quays. The residential area and the older uses thus stand side by side as different aspects of the townscape. The small boat harbour is another distinctive local feature. If you are interested in the landscape and character of the settlement, you can therefore look beyond Höviksnäs as a bathing destination and explore its different areas.
Låka: beach and bathing spot
Låka bathing spot is in Höviksnäs and has a small sandy beach. The site also includes grassy areas and cliffs. Bathing jetties, a diving tower and a volleyball court add to the facilities, and there are toilets on site. Låka is more than just a stretch of beach: sand, grass and cliffs shape the scenery, alongside the bathing facilities and volleyball court. Parking is available at the bathing spot and before the last turn-off. These features help you see Låka as a distinct focus for a stay in Höviksnäs.
Activities and a cultural heritage walk
Höviksnäs has a frisbee golf course as another activity option. The Hakefjord can also be explored underwater. Alongside the bathing spot, there are therefore different things to consider: a sporting facility on land and the fjord as a place for underwater exploration.
In 2024, SPF Seniorerna described the route of a cultural heritage walk through Höviksnäs. It followed the coastal path to Buhalla and then continued along a steep trail to a hilltop with views of Saltholmarna and the Tjörn Bridge. Trail conditions and access may change; check both before visiting. The route offers a different focus from Låka or the frisbee golf course: the route itself, Buhalla and the view from the hilltop take centre stage.
Plan your journey and stay
Some buses from the Häggvall bus stop continue to Höviksnäs. As timetables may change, check the relevant service before travelling. This is especially helpful if you want to coordinate your journey with your planned activities.
When looking for a holiday apartment in Höviksnäs, consider what you would like your stay to focus on. Låka combines a beach with bathing facilities, the frisbee golf course offers a different activity, and the walk described above adds a cultural heritage focus. Comparing these options can help you decide on the right mix of water, recreation and local history before choosing accommodation.
